CW 48: Getting Cozy
Chestnuts roasting on an (fake) open fire...
Disclaimer: Late Night Entry (meaning there might be more grammar mistakes than usual)
This week, I started my Christmas preparations meaning all the Christmas sweaters and super comfortable socks are coming back to my wardrobe, my flat gets decorated as corny as possible and Christmas music will play non-stop from now until Christmas eve.
Although I usually enjoy very lit rooms (meaning all lights are on and there is no single dark corner in my apartment) this week I loved turning on the lights of that tiny plastic Christmas tree I bought last year, turning on the that light-chain I installed on my wall and - here's the best part - putting on a live stream of a fireplace on my tv. This combination of lights and coziness let me calm down instantly. I didn't leave my couch and was doing all my work there. This setup proved to make me super productive and I was getting a lot of work done. The fireplace felt like it's radiating heat (yes, I'm aware that it was just a few pixels on a screen) and the little lights illuminating my apartment in a warm tone were simply calming.
On the weekend I visited my family and was back in the big house that always seems like it has degrees below zero, so even though I love spending time at home on sunday on my way back to my apartment I just couldn't wait to jump into my PJs, put on that fake fireplace and get back into my warm state of coziness. I still had to finish this weeks pubquiz, and with a bit less work at uni I didn't even have to stress out about not doing anything and just researching random questions while enjoying a fake fireplace and some made-in-china plastic tree and lights.
So basically my weekly obsession was just creating this beautiful, warm, calming and cozy atmosphere in my apartment because I really didn't have much else that was on my mind and my "living room" was really the only place I wanted to be at (except for Stockholm maybe, but that has to wait for now I guess - thanks to the C-word).
... isn't it truly the most wonderful time of the year?
