Trailer Excitement: The 355
"We put ourselves in danger, so others aren't"

"The 355", to be released in January 2021 (if COVID let's us), is a Spy Thriller directed by Simon Kinberg starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Penélope Cruz and Diane Kruger amongst others. The first trailer was released on October 6th and I am hyped:
I've known about this movie for a while now. In fact I added it to my watchlist on imdb on May 11th 2018, so I was happy to finally see a first glimpse at what I can expect from this movie.
The trailer looks very promising to me. A slowed down version of Rihanna's "Run this town" is added to the trailer giving it a great feel. The voice over by Jessica Chastain's character gives us a good idea of where the plot might go. She is gathering people to put together an international team of some sort of spies including a German, British, Colombian and Chinese lady. We can hear that everyone is using their own accent, which is nice and there is no danger of being distracted by a not-so-greatly executed accent. The trailer shows the five women fighting, which I hope will be choreographed well. A specific scene, where the five characters are dressed in gowns and enter a room, reminded me a lot of "Ocean's Eight" and it gave me this badass vibe, which made think of the false and illogical technology they used in that movie. So I hope, they stay realistic, when it comes to technology they might be using. Basically, please don't let the technology just be convenient when you need it even though technically it's not even possible. Aside from that my only concern about the movie, is the director. Since his only other movie was "Dark Pheonix" which was entertaining to me, but plot-wise really needed some work. On the other hand he produced some of very nice movies including "The Martian" for instance, so I feel like this could be going both ways.
In general, the acting looks (obviously) very promising and the cinematography looks cool, from what the trailer shows. I think all in all "The 355" is not going to be the greatest of all thrillers but will definitely be entertaining and we will have some feminism poured over us. I for one am expecting a mixture of "Ocean's Eight" and "Widows". I can say I am definitely excited. Let's see!
